British Canoe Union Accredited Courses

This year has seen substantial changes to the BCU's Performance Award Scheme with Paddlepower scheme for under 16'sand the revised Star Award scheme for the over 14's. Both the Beginners and the Improvers courses will cover the skills and techniques relevant to each scheme with appropriate awards being given when the required level is achieved. Improvers Canoeing

Aged 11+

This course assumes at least two days structured experience and looks at improving and developing the basic skills as well as introducing additional strokes and new techniques. It also provides a greater theoretical understanding of the sport. Please note that this course is physically more demanding than the 1 Star and suitable for those who are at least 12 years old.
