Joining Instructions for Watersport Courses

Thank you for deciding to let us teach you some new skills on our beautiful water. We hope that your experience will be second to none and just to make sure your visit passes that little bit smoother we have prepared the following information.

How to find us.....

From the A21, between Lamberhurst and Flimwell, turn off at the signpost for Bewl Water.
Follow the lane until you turn left through a gate on to the Bewl Water site (1km).

If the entrance is manned, inform them that you are doing a course at the Outdoor Centre.

Follow the signs for 'Education Centre' (200m).

The road will curve around to the right and on that bend our entrance is on the LEFT.

This is prior to the pay barrier to the Southern Water car park.

Times of day courses.....

Sailing 10.00 -16.30* Canoeing 10.00 -16.00

*some courses run slightly longer starting at 09.00 and finishing at 17.00. If you are unsure please ask.

What we recommend you bring (each day).....

A packed Lunch

Clothing:-

You will have plenty of time to change before going afloat. Please bear in mind that the water in the reservoir is always a little chilly, and that the weather can be a little variable. So when packing your bag remember, 'better to take too much than too little'.

Buoyancy aids will be supplied

Soft sole shoes/ Trainers to wear in the water (not wellingtons). (These are additional to your 'dry' shoes) - Barefoot is NOT an option.

Towels

Waterproofs (inc. trousers if possible)

2/3 Fleeces or Sweatshirts

2/3 pairs Trousers not jeans (and shorts, weather pending)
2/3 T-Shirts

Suncream (SPF 15 or higher)

Swimwear

Hat

A padlock for the lockers

We will try our hardest to ensure that your course meets and exceeds your expectations. If for some reason you feel this is not happening please do not hesitate to tell us, preferably whilst we can still do something to improve it.
